Day 32 Comacchio to Taglio Di Po

Distance 42.26 miles

We strolled through the town as the preparations for the party were being made. The town was filled with the smell of roasting eels. Unforgettable.

It was going to be fun but we had to be elsewhere.
Santuario della Madonna die Cappuchini in Comacchio. An important centre for the start of the festivities. We paid a visit before we left for our day’s ride.
Alison cycling through the arches as we find our way out of town.
A wonderful cycle across the Po Delta seeing the fishing stations.
Crossing on the moveable bridge. Another memorable moment.
Most people have their pre-dinner drinks on a terrace overlooking the sea or a vista. Ours was next to a white van.

Advice on insect bite prevention

  1. Keep moving over 4mph and they can’t catch you.
  2. Don’t wear bright colours. They will think you are a flower and be attracted to you. It could however be advantageous to stand near someone dressed in yellow.
  3. Stop drinking beer. Mosquitoes are attracted to the smell of beer on your skin. We recommend swapping to champagne.
4. If all else fails try the Top to Tail technique. Cover yourself up and be liberal with the Jungle Juice.

5. Finally, if you are blood type O stay inside. You are the most attractive blood group to mosquitoes.

Every day brings its challenges and today was a first. Yes, we admit it. This is exactly what it seems. Breaking and entering into a restricted road in order to get into our accommodation.

We are nearly at the end of our cycle tour and thought that tomorrow a special edition of the Daily Blog on Parking in Italy would provide a public service.

Essential reading if you are planning on taking a holiday here.

Time for bed. All this covert activity is taking its toll.

Good night.
