Day 28 Siena to Castellina in Chianti

Distance 17.1 miles

Ascent 2102 feet

Another day of climbing whilst we cycled the Chianti route. Beautiful scenery which of course you can only appreciate properly from the top of the hill.

Castelnuovo Berardenga. The clouds are threatening but it remains dry.
Our first ride on the Strada Bianchi. Alison making it look easy when the reality was very different. A lot of pushing on steep climbs.

Some confusion when we reach the Villa we are staying in. We are greeted by the cleaner who was expecting Alison Torre. After some confusion it appears Alison(s) are staying in a room named Torre. The young German girl watching the proceedings was enjoying the spectacle.

And what a room. All accommodation for senior cyclists should include a chaise longue.

Not sure whether to feel outraged or confused. I like a statistic and have just checked my calorie expenditure. Having climbed 2012 feet over 17.01 miles it appears my active calorie consumption is 148 calories. Unbelievable.

My resting calorie consumption is 1,128 calories. Alison says that it would be healthier if I spent the day lying down. She is planning to restrict my diet to ensure I return home in peak medical condition. We have just finished the last piece of chocolate. It is unlikely I will see any more.

A gentle stroll into the town to the restaurant owned by our host. Lovely meal and now home to go to bed.

Good night
