Day 27 Siena

Non cycling day. Today we are tourists.

Walking 5.3 miles

A day of rest for Jean and Mary. Time to let our bodies recover.

We must keep our highly tuned bodies prepared for the next few days so we climbed the Torre del Mangia in the Piazza del Campo.
The view from the top of the tower was worth the 400 steps.
As we are on holiday we sat for half an hour having an iced coffee in the Piazza del Campo.
Then a wander down the Nicchio streets where preparations are being made for the party to celebrate their win at the August Palio. A shame we will miss it. We love a party.

We seem to have difficulty getting to the meeting point on time for guided tours. Another minor confusion delayed us but we hurtled through the Siena streets to arrive just in time.

We are testing each other on what we can remember from our tour today. It is so important to keep our brains active.

We went to a bar for a drink after the tour. Jean and Mary decided it was too much bother to go back to the accommodation before going out again for dinner. We had an early dinner in the bar and then retired for the night.

Jean and Mary are taking their elite athlete status seriously.
