The Daily Blog cultural special

This cosmic elephant by Salvador Dali is outside the city wall of Montepulciano. It is one year younger than me and looks to be in distinctly better condition.

We had the morning at leisure to see Montepulciano. We visited the Cathedral, wandered around the shops and took in the atmosphere.

There are many shops selling the local wines.
Reflected light from a stained glass window on the walls in the Cathedral of St Mary of the Assumption.

First stop today was Pienza. A UNESCO World Heritage sight for the most ideal renaissance style town. It is also famous for its pecorino cheese.

An exhibition in Pienza called ‘I refuse’. Pinocchio exhausted and refusing to cycle up any more hills.

Then onto San Quirico d’Orcia through a beautiful landscape.

A memorable ride.
Iconic pictures of Tuscan villas and grounds.
We are staying in the Secret Tower Garden room. The room is at the top if the house of course. Our host says that there is as amazing view from the window in our bedroom.
Not anymore. But it is an excellent drying facility.
We hadn’t done sufficient exercise today so went for a stroll around the Italian gardens. A little gentle exercise.

Time for bed. These elite athletes are in recovery from yesterday. The climbing starts again tomorrow.

Good night
