Boulogne to Bercke Plage

Gentle ride along the brilliant EV 4 route. Arrived at Etapes where we stopped to look at the military cemetery.

A moving and poignant visit.
Today’s question: what would the young men and women who fought and died for a better, fairer and free life think of today’s world?

A picnic lunch in smart Le Touquet and now at a 5*campsite at Bercke plage where you have to pay to wash your hands.

On another note supplies are dwindling and we were down to our last liquorice allsort. After a fair and equal division they are all gone. What is to become of us?

    Hello our pals. Now the allsort has gone, please don’t eat each other!
    Your question about participants in WW1 made me think. I wonder how many of them thought it would end in a better world? This old cynic suspects not many. They seem to have had little choice. And my understanding is that the non-white soldiers were mostly not allowed to be buried alongside their ‘British’ counterparts. The topic of our first bottle of wine evening on your return?!!
