The Preparation

We take planning seriously and this year our preparation has reached new heights.

48 hours to go and Alison is reading up on the route. The sharp eyed among you will notice that she is researching the walking route. Not sure how helpful this will be.
We are no longer using pages torn out from the motoring map book of Europe. We have splashed out and have two new maps. One of the south of Italy and the other of northern Italy. We notice that there is a gap in coverage of the maps. But we have a compass and will head north. What could possibly go wrong?

Alison has been studying Italian on Duolingo. She is quietly confident that her studying has fully equipped her if we come across a group of Japanese school children. At the moment we are struggling to differentiate in Italian between a picture and a puncture and can’t tell a strawberry from a bean. They say learning a new language is good for the brain. We have high hopes.

Have we spent our last weekend in training? Climbing some hills and packing in the miles? Of course not. We have had a fabulous Kings reunion on the Isle of Wight. Thank you Lynn for a wonderful weekend and so good to catch up with Georgina, Jackie, Sue and Jeremy. A perfect start to our next adventure.

Now we must go and finish the packing …….
