Alison and Alison travel by train.

There are times when life just doesn’t work out. Plans go awry but other opportunities present themselves. Sadly no cycling for us this year. A fractured knee followed by pneumonia has put a temporary stop to that. We are on the move again but this time by rail.

Of course all great journeys take extensive planning and true to form Alison has thought of all the essentials.

The night before we travel Alison is knitting hand warmers for our cups. I think this needs no further explanation.

An early start and we fly to Zurich where we are met by Gary and Cecilia. We start our stay in Switzerland and visit Karthause Ittingen a Carthusian Monastery.

How many umbrellas can we leave behind on a wet and windy day? Two. To be collected next week.
Trying to blend with the locals from the offset,
We are being watched. A marvellous exhibition at the monastery.
Perfect end to a fabulous day. Predictive text announces we were racketeering with Gary and Cecilia. Enticing but a lot more fun enjoying a traditional Swiss raclette with them.
This hangs in Gary and Cecilia’s home and we think it very appropriate for our journey this year.
